Problem Statement

The newly built Rock X museum is large, comprehensive and amazing in that it would take 2 days to visit all the things that it offers. However, most consumers can only visit for a few hours or at most a single day. How could we provide an efficient, accessible and delightful visit experience that promotes visitor's interests and goals?

Persona

Teenager Student

"I want to learn about more electric guitars, however I do not know where they are located in the museum.

I also don't have time to visit all of them."

Business Man

"I want to refresh my R&R memories for the 70-80s, and my son's interest in 2010+ music. I'm not sure if we could both be satisfied with the visit.

I'm worried that my kids and I might get lost in the museum."

Artist

"I want to take a close look at the guitars I have in mind, but I haven't seen them in person and I don't have time to figure out which artists/bands owned them before."

USER STORIES,  CONCEPTUAL MODELS   &   FLOWS

User Stories

User stories are create at an agile scale to better understand their behavior with actions and associated objects.

Conceptual Model

By organizing actions with related objects to reduce the cognitive loads of the potential users. Actions (verbs) were integrated and simplified from user stories.

Prioritization Matrix

Tasks were designed and rated by a group of 10 people on their usage frequency.

The goal was to define the most desirable functions based on user needs. The most frequently used functions by many users are designed at highly visible locations with few clicks to navigate through the app.

Prototype

The home page layout was designed from tested wireframe variations.

The design promotes the business goals by collecting entry fees, event tickets and donations that support the new business.

The home page also shows the most exciting events, exhibits and museum information at users' convenience.

The access to the profile page is designed to one of the global buttons from the bottom bar instead of popping out from the bottom or side.

There is a lot of related information associated with the user's account, the current design will allow users to have quick access to their tickets and visit plans instead of diving down a couple of clicks to find what they need.

Improvement

I conducted 5 user testing sessions to ensure the user experience flow and the information architecture make sense.

Change 1
Gesture Movement

80% of the users found the next and forward buttons interfering the main content and somehow distracting.

Using a nature slide gesture would perfectly solving the current issue.

Key Interaction

Execute the visit plan

Once logged in, the button at the middle bottom will remind users to start the tour and guide them through the museum step by step.

Instead of traditional content plan information, the app will guide users to the exact exhibit with related exhibits and souvenirs suggested. Once finished the current exhibit, the user can swipe left to move to the next one.
Make a visit plan

Users who come without visit plans, they can choose from featured plans or customize their own.

By customizing plans, users can import their favorite music list or answer a short questionnaire, the system would generate the most suitable plans for them with the ability for modification.

AR features

AR features allow users to quickly view and explore detailed information about the exhibit in sight.
